Australian Fleece Competition

Every year, we hold the world’s largest fully-measured fleece competition - the Australian Fleece Competition.

About the Australian Fleece Competition

Run by Landmark and our key partners - Australian Wool Testing Authority and the Australian Sheep Breeders Association - the Australian Fleece Competition is held as part of the Australian Sheep & Wool Show in Bendigo, Victoria.

With entrants from all across the country, our judging panel test and sample each fleece under AWTA standards and give ratings based on five different criteria, including weight, colour, and evenness. With multiple awards for each class of fleece, as well as an award for Grand Champion Fleece, the total prize value on offer is over $17,000.

After all awards have been announced, all entrants are encouraged to donate their fleece to the competition’s chosen charity, which this year is the Lyme Disease Association of Australia. Since the inception of the competition in 2000, the competition has raised over $127,000 for sixteen different charities.

2018 Australian Fleece Competition

The annual Australian Sheep and Wool Show is on again at the Bendigo Showgrounds running from the 20th of July to the 22nd of July.
