Alpaca sells for $165,000 at Napoleons sale


Landmark Ballarat were the conducting agents of the highly successful Windsong Valley Alpaca Stud herd dispersal sale on 19 September. With 138 lots on offer, the sale grossed $889,790 with an average sale price of $6,447.


One of Australia’s finest male alpacas fetched $165,000, topping the individual animal purchase price on the day. Six year old male “Firedragon”, with a density cutting 4.1kg of skirted fleece, was purchased by Matthew and Catherine Lloyd from “E.P. Cambridge Alpaca Stud” at Balhannah, South Australia.


More than 200 people attended the sale organised by Landmark Ballarat. Buying strength came locally and from South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania, Queensland, Germany, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.


Landmark Ballarat branch manager Adrian Smith said the sale was an outstanding result and passed all expectations.
