Landmark raises a further $174,000 for disaster relief

Landmark has raised a further $174,000 to be donated to the Australian Red Cross, following a charity auction conducted at its annual Landmark Rewards client dinner.

Over 250 farmer clients, suppliers and Landmark staff bid for a range of items donated by 27 companies that supply products and services through Landmark, all in the knowledge that the objective was to raise money for disaster relief.

Landmark managing director Richard Norton said the auction had exceeded all expectations, thanks to the generosity of suppliers and farmers who were keen to provide assistance to people in need.

“The charity auction was organised with just two week’s notice; we contacted numerous suppliers, explained what we had in mind and the response was huge; the offers poured in of products that could be auctioned to raise money,” Mr Norton said.

“The auction itself saw items sold for well above their notional value, which simply confirmed the generosity and commitment of people in agriculture to assist others in need.

“We committed to those involved not to indentify individuals publicly, however I would like to place on record our appreciation,” Mr Norton said.

The auction funds will add to the initial donation in January of $100,000 to the Australian Red Cross by Landmark’s Canadian parent company, Agrium Inc.

Landmark’s livestock division is continuing to run the Landmark Disaster Relief Fundraiser, which offers clients the opportunity to donate livestock or the proceeds from the sale of livestock as part of their regular sales process, with all funds to go to the Australian Red Cross. This initiative runs until the end of March, so any livestock producer who wishes to participate is encouraged to contact their local Landmark branch.
