Landmark partners with Australian Red Cross

Landmark has become a National Community Partner of Australian Red Cross, with the partnership agreement forming a major part of Landmark’s longer-term community support platform.

Landmark managing director Richard Norton said the company’s relationship with Red Cross had evolved over the course of 2011, beginning with the donation in January of US$100,000 by Agrium Inc, Landmark’s parent company, to assist with Red Cross flood relief efforts. Further fundraising efforts by Landmark generated another $210,000, making it a substantial commitment overall.

“We initially chose Red Cross because wherever you go in Australia, Red Cross is there offering support and assistance,” Mr Norton said.

“The feedback we received was so encouraging that taking the next step and becoming a National Community Partner is a logical move for us. Many of our clients, suppliers and indeed our own employees are involved with Red Cross in some way in rural Australia, perhaps as blood donors, volunteers or even occasionally recipients of help themselves, so this partnership is a positive and constructive way to formalise involvement at a company level.”

“Our agreement is more than a demonstration of good corporate citizenship; Landmark will be active in 2012 raising funds with a charity auction at a national customer event in January, through our workplace giving program and with other events during the year.”

“Red Cross has a number of strong corporate partners, but few with quite the same rural base. Landmark has around 400 stores in its network across Australia, so we are in a strong position to work with Red Cross wherever and however is most beneficial in rural communities.”

Robert Tickner, CEO Red Cross says “We are thrilled to be moving our relationship with Landmark into a long term arrangement with this partnership. We look forward to working together to help vulnerable people across Australia through our everyday programs and in times of emergency.”

“We hope this is the beginning of a fulfilling, long-term partnership with Australian Red Cross,” Mr Norton said.
