Landmark is pleased to announce their inaugural Landmark Classic Campdraft Sale

To be held at Tamworth on Saturday 24th May 2008. The sale is the key to entering the Landmark Classic Campdraft, to be held in February 2009, with $50,000 in prize money on offer.

Landmark NSW state livestock manager Mark Barton explained that after buying a horse at the 2008 sale, the new owner has a year to prepare it for the 2009 campdraft.

“Campdrafting holds a unique and special place in rural Australia, which Landmark appreciates,” Mr Barton said.

“That's why linking these two steps over a year will make this a great event, worthy of people aiming for and why Landmark is so excited by the opportunity to be involved.

“The horse industry is currently under pressure due to equine influenza, so Landmark sees this announcement as a positive step, showing optimism for the future.”

Mr Barton explained that the May 2008 sale will be open to registered Australian Stock Horses or Quarter Horses only, and they must be ridden at the sale.

“Audio-visual equipment will be available to display sale horses working cattle, whilst that horse is being auctioned, so buyers and future competitors will get a great opportunity to assess each horse's potential,” he said.

“Horses sold at the 2008 sale that are four years old and under at the time will then be eligible to compete in the Landmark Classic draft, to be held immediately before the next sale in 2009.”

To be eligible for a share of the $50,000 prizemoney at the draft in 2009, exchange of ownership must have occurred and been recorded through Landmark on the day of the 2008 sale.

The Landmark Classic Campdraft sale will be in the indoor arena at the Tamworth Showgrounds, starting at 2.00pm on 24th May 2008 (subject to any EI restrictions).

The campdraft events in February 2009 will consist of two rounds and a final, with the winner receiving $30,000, 2nd place $10,000, 3rd place $5,000 and a $5,000 bonus to the person who sold the winning horse at the 2008 sale.

Nominations for the Landmark Classic Campdraft Sale close on Thursday 27th March 2008. For sale inquiries contact Danielle Wadwell at Landmark Tamworth on 02 6765 5211.
