Landmark Championships Kicking Off

THE 2009 Landmark Country Football Championships kick off in Perth tomorrow, with the best players from country WA preparing to represent their leagues across three different divisions.

This year's carnival, which runs from July 9 to 12, will be the 35th anniversary of the championships and to celebrate the milestone Merit Awards will be presented to people involved in 25 or more of those years.

The first year of promotion and relegation will also take effect at the 2009 Landmark Country Championships, with top and bottom teams from last year moving up and down divisions.

Reigning A-Division champions the South West Football League will return to defend their title, with coach Mark Bayliss back at the helm following last season's Grand Final win over the Avon Football Association.
